Foreign Relations
Spain
During the Revolutionary War, Spain became in support of the colonies against Britain. With this, they offered their aid and fighting to America. As the war went on, Spain captured Fort Natchez. After the war, when boundaries were drawn, the captured area was north of Spanish border. Spain took claims to the land anyway.
British
After the war, there was also problems with where the British were residing. In the northwest area of the United State's land, British soldiers still remained. Though the war was over, they refused to surrender some land, because they felt that the Americans had not completed their part of the Treaty of Paris 1783. Americans still needed to pay off pre-war debt and restore loyalist property.
