Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was the original government for the United States created by the 2nd Continental Congress and put in to place after the Revolutionary War.
Main Idea: It was a government in which the states were all combined under a single government, but it gave most power to the states to avoid monarchy.
Much power was not given to a central government, thus it mainly was with the state governments.

- One vote per state in regards to national decision making
- No federal courts
- No centralized power to tax
- No national currency
- Central government couldn't regulate trade
